PNHP is co-hosting a national single payer lobby day on Thursday, May 22, in Washington D.C. Along with allies Public Citizen, National Nurses United, Healthcare-NOW, AMSA, and others, we will be lobbying Congress for HR 676 and S 1782.
By 2023, over 31 million Americans will remain uninsured. Underinsurance is the “new normal.” Millions of Americans continue to struggle for access to care while private health insurance companies thrive. Now is the time is now to raise our collective voice & tell Congress “We won’t wait for single payer.” Join together with advocates across the country for a legislative day of action.
Schedule of events:
- 9-10am: Lobbying training, Rayburn HOB Room 2226
- 10-11:30am: House single-payer briefing, Rayburn HOB Room 2226 - speakers will include lawmakers and single payer advocates
- 11:30-5pm: Lobby meetings, House and Senate offices - Public Citizen will be scheduling meetings for advocates
- 5-6:30pm: Reception, Public Citizen's office - Rob Weissman, president of Public Citizen, will keynote
