We need to get as many calls to members of the New York State Assembly as possible on Tuesday, April 29th in support of bringing the New York Health bill to a vote before the session ends in June.
With enough pressure, we can pass this bill in the Assembly, which will send a big message: New Yorkers want truly equitable, universal health care without private health insurance companies!
Assemblyman Richard Gottfried authored a letter to Speaker Silver, asking him to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. You can help by calling your Assembly person and urging them to sign on to Assemblyman Gottfried's letter to Speaker Silver.
Every call counts! It makes a big difference to hear directly from their constituents.
Just follow these simple steps to make a big impact on health care justice:
1) Look up your NYS Assembly person at www.votesmart.org.
2) Contact the NYS Assembly Capitol Switchboard at (518) 455-4100 and ask for your Assembly Representative’s office.
3) Sample Scripts:

Come to Albany with us on Tuesday, May 6th, and show our legislators that it's time to move this bill. We need a victory in the Assembly and we need you to be a part of this effort. Physicians, nurses and patients—we all need to be there to let our representatives know: no one should die or go bankrupt trying to access the treatment they need. We still have a health care crisis. We can fix it. And we can fix it now.
Click here to register: the earlier you register, the easier it is for us to schedule your legislative meetings (you'll be teamed with others) and arrange your transportation. Vans will leave from Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx; cars from Westchester and Long Island. Click here for more background information on the bill and the campaign.
