What does immigrant health access have to do with single payer and the fight for health justice?
From ICE raids to public charge, from proposed cuts to refugee admissions to family separation, the Trump Administration has implemented and threatened to create policies that threaten the health and wellbeing of our immigrant neighbors and communities. Immigrants already face numerous barriers to healthcare, including but not limited to language, literacy, health beliefs, and cultural competency. New York City is home to 3.1 million immigrants as of 2017, and approximately 1 million New Yorker’s live in a mixed-status household, where a household member is undocumented.
This monthly forum, lead by our New York City Students for a National Health Program family, will explore the ways in which immigrant communities are being threatened, how local advocates and providers are fighting to protect our immigrant families, and how the fight for single-payer healthcare intersects with these threats to immigrant health.
Please RSVP below, and help spread the word on Facebook.
