Physicians for a National Health Program is a national organization with over 21,000 members who advocate for a universal, comprehensive, single payer national health program – an expanded and improved Medicare for All. PNHP New York Metro chapter is committed to building a statewide movement for single-payer healthcare.

Single-payer healthcare is gaining momentum like never before thanks to the grassroots organizing that is bringing attention to increasing inequities in healthcare, and an intense political climate at both the state & national levels, as people demand accountability & action.

For the first time ever, both the NY Health Act and the House & Senate Medicare for All bills include long-term care, which is a necessity for seniors, people with disabilities, and their caregivers and a necessity for any comprehensive healthcare program so the addition of long term care is an enormous achievement. Medicare for All has rightfully become a litmus test for progressive candidates and campaigns, and in New York State, the Senate has committed to holding regional hearings on the New York Health Act. This is a critical time to organize communities upstate to turn out in large numbers to demand guaranteed and improved access to healthcare.
